Gold Award Summary Project Outcome!!

Updated: Nov 24, 2023

Since June 2022, I have collected and made a total of over 1, 262 pet items that were all donated to 18 local animal shelters and rescue groups! Around 942 of those items were collected from friends, family, neighbors, and the donation drive held during the summer of 2022, and around 320 of those items were made by either me, volunteers, or during the workshops. The homemade items we made include: catnip toys, squeaky toys, tug toys, interactive toys, scratchers, privacy screens, hide-away houses/tents, food puzzles, hay rolls, beds, blankets, and rice warmers. I've even worked with Dr. Lynsey Rosen, who is a vet from Shiloh Veterinary Hospital, to ensure that what I am making will benefit the animals and help reduce their stress and boredom. All the items have been distributed to the following animal shelters/rescue groups: Santa Monica Animal Shelter, West LA Animal Shelter, Wags and Walks, Operation Blankets of Love, NKLA, Westside German Shepherd Rescue of Los Angeles, Fur Baby Rescue, Kitty Bungalow, Stray Cat Alliance, Chesterfield Square Animal Shelter, O’Brians Gift (street dogs), Pet Pride Cat Shelter, Forte Animal Rescue, Felines and Friends, Beach City Kitties, Cat Cafe Lounge, North Central Animal Shelter, and Lange Foundation. Also, since I am working with Los Angeles Animal Services, all of the items I donated at their shelters will be distributed to other shelters within Los Angeles Animal Services (which includes the West LA, East Valley, Chesterfield Square, North Central, West Valley, and Harbor animal shelters)! In addition to all of that, I have also donated a custom donation box for the West LA Animal Shelter, donated an agility course to the Santa Monica Animal Shelter, and helped Kitty Bungalow win a grant of $5,000 from the Stern Memorial Trust. Additionally, I've led a total of 6 workshops with a total of 124 people attending, which means 124 people have been educated about the importance of animal enrichment and keeping animals less stressed, and have learned how to make pet items out of common household objects, to help their local animal shelters and rescue groups! These workshops were to local Girl Scout troops, the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center, the Palms Rancho Public Library, and the Motor Avenue Farmers Market, I've also educated others around the world through the use of social media and a website!
